Now, Shilpa Shetty has started talking like Big B, Priyadarshan and Mahesh Bhatt. She’s become the latest from Bollywood to criticise the internationally acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire.
The actress-anchor-reality TV star said that the film portrayed India and Mumbai in a grim way. Shilpa said, “Obviously it’s about the slums. I just feel that internationally recognised films focus more on our slums and poverty. So I just wrote on my blog two days ago that for a change I’m doing a film that focuses on the beauty of India and its culture. That’ll be interesting to watch as well.”
Well, sometime ago Preity Zinta too had said something similar. Looks like smart businesswomen have a lot in common. So IPL is not the only common thing that these two actresses both share.
Shilpa Shetty on the Set of 'The Desire' With Jaya Prada
Shilpa Shetty has sacrificed a lot for 'The Desire.' She was reportedly going bald for this movie, which ended up being a makeup job she had to do for the film. Even now she's undergoing training to learn the dance style of Odissi. To be more specific Shilpa Shetty is learning the tribhangi form of Odissi where the body gets twisted into three parts.
Her instructor for this is Ratikant Mohapatra, who just happens to be the son of Odissi dancer Kelucharan Mohapatra. Mohapatra is actually impressed by how Shilpa Shetty is absorbing the art. 'My working experience with Shilpa Shetty was very good. As an actress and a bharatnatyam dancer she was able to understand the style and form of Odissi and its execution.' If this wasn't enough Shilpa Shetty is also learning Chinese from her co-star, Chinese superstar Xia Yu.
But a lot of that is old news, to make up for that here is some new news in the form of set pics from 'The Desire.' For those that don't know 'The Desire' is about the life of aspiring Odissi Dancer Goutami (Shilpa Shetty). Goutami desires to make an impression in the dance form, and coincidentally runs into an expert in Odissi. This woman she runs into has an adoring fan base, but she doesn't let that get to her head. This woman tells Goutami to concentrate on the techniques of the Odissi art form.
Eventually Goutami meets Jai Leang (Xia Yu) who also wishes to be a skilled if not also acclaimed painter. There's more to this, but it wouldn't be fair to spoil the movie Shilpa Shetty is working so hard on. Also on board for 'The Desire' is Jaya Prada as Goutami's mother, who just happens to be making a comeback to that silver screen after being busy with political and social commitments.
If the cast wasn't good enough they also decided to go all out with the music. After stunning the world with his score in 'Slumdog Millionaire' A.R. Rahman is signed to score 'The Desire.' Tell us what you think of the pictures by dropping us a comment.
